Next Pendergast Book Coming Soon?

Are Mr. Preston and Child going to make another Pendergast book any time soon? If so, when? I know it's probably too early to answer this kind of question, but I'd just thought I'd ask anyway.

Maybe I'm acutely aware of this issue because I've been going through the hassle and pain of settling an estate where the person died without leaving a will, but why would Elijah Esteban's will and the deed to his farm be buried with him?

Now, it's not clear that both will and deed were in the tomb. The will and the deed are found in Alexander Esteban's safe, and Pendergast...

Hi everyone!

It's been a while, but I wanted to finish the book before I read stuff on it. Overall I enjoyed it. Some things are getting old, such as stupid cops nearly ruining everything, etc, but Aunt Cornelia is always a creepy delight, and I just adore D'Agosta. Pendergast was a bit less than I expected...where is the depth that was getting explored in the last few books? And I'm never gonna forgive the authors for killing off Smithback. I still adore them, but...

At the end of CD, Pendergast gets a message... I am assuming about Constance giving birth.

I wonder which way P/C will go with this? I wonder what this child will be like? Will both the child and Constance live with Pendergast? Will Pendergast fear the child... or feel guilty toward it because of the Event with his brother?

Can we talk about this guy?

He was so richly described in his appearance and personality - it was one of the highlights of the book for me. And then his reaction with D'Agosta - loved it! I was really looking forward to some good scenes from this guy - and maybe further insight into Pendergast.

But then abruptly...he leaves! Huh?? He's in 1 major scene, starts getting sick in the background, and then leaves!

I'm not buying it. I just don't...

What were your favorite moments in the book? Favorite scenes, quotes, themes, whatever. Discuss anything you loved about Cemetery Dance.

For me... as I mentioned elsewhere, one of my favorite chapters was Nora being chased in the museum, through the hanging bones, draped with plastic sheets. Great chapter.

I love that Margo was at least mentioned! Tee hee!

I hope it's okay to start a topic dedicated to the passing of Smithback.

I just finished CD tonight and while I did enjoy the read - I have to admit this is the FIRST Preston and Child book where I have started weeping during selected chapters. It was outright painful to watch Nora go through Bill's passing.

So along those lines...I LOVED Smithback. I still don't understand why my beloved author pair decided to do away with him. I know they say "no...

I just saw the commercial! Weeeeird. Prime spot - on during Letterman! I didn't hear the beginning, but suddenly heard "Preston" and of course my antennae picked it up. The end said, "how do you stop a killer, when he's already dead?"

As usual, there were a lot of laugh-out-loud moments in this book. Interestingly, much of it came from Pendergast, who seemed to be flexing his humor muscles more than usual! This topic made for some serious hilarity in the WOD forum, so let's run with it for this book! I'll let someone else start this time... go!
