That would be, "Mah deah Mawgo" then!

Ah, I can hear it. *daydreams*
*sigh* Well, who knows.
Crackers and camembert went flying.

That makes it sound like he has no chin.
Granted, if the sins and excesses of the Pendergast family include inbreeding... Le cadavre exquis boira le vin nouveau. The exquisite corpse will drink the new wine. |

Why, mah deah, didn't somebody call him 'inbred' in one of the books? It made me LOL harder than ever.
"The guy's dipped in green sh--."
"Ah, Vincent," said Pendergast, "you have such a colorful way with words." |

Wright, the museum director, called him an 'inbred albino'. Not to his face though...I would have loved to see how that turned out.
I refuse to answer that question on grounds that I don't know the answer.

He probably would have coolly corrected him, which would have made the director more irate: "Actually, my parents were from entirely different bloodlines.
As for being an albino - while I certainly bear a fair complexion, unfortunately you are incorrect on that point also. However, I once knew a most helpful
individual..." Etc. Explaining it in a painfully calm and verbose manner, I'm sure, while steam started to come out of the guy's ears!
Seems that Pendergast does not anger so much at personal insults, but if you dare to speak ill of anyone he cares about... that's when he drops his civility and you should back the heck up!

I wonder how many people just tune out Pendergast when he's speaking. Granted, an albino with a Southern accent and a black suit of doom is harder to not
pay attention to than most people, but still. Somebody's just got to get bored eventually and let their eyes glaze over.

Apropos of nothing, really, but I saw an albino waiting at the St Charles Ave. streetcar stop on my way home just now. Didn't look a thing like Our Special
Agent, though.

Oh yeah. Like in Relic when Coffey makes a reference to Pendergast's wife that he doesn't find respectful...Coffey actually got scared and backed away.

The return of Corrie, but other than that not much. For some odd reason I don't speculate much - which I usually do with other series or worse tv-shows.

This has probably been mentioned already, but I'd like to see more small town stuff. It was fun in SLWC the way each and every moment was important and
every citizen was a living breathing character. The city is great for blending in and getting away with a lot, but the small town stuff really made the setting
of SLWC come alive. I'd like them to revisit that theme someday/

Excellent point, Fantastopotamus (wow, could you have picked a longer name for me to have to type out! LOL!).
I too liked the small town atmosphere in SLWC. Gave a sort of claustrophobic edge to the story... nothing but those endless cornfields and flat, flat, hot land... and a small, dying town stuck in the middle of... nothingness. |

As someone likely said earlier in this thread, more Proctor! I used to read a lot of British Golden Age of crime/mystery novels featuring the 'gentleman
detective', and a couple of my favorite Detective Inspectors--Lord Peter Wimsey and Albert Campion--both have manservants who do the usual butler gigs but
also assist on the case here and there and act as trusted confidant to the boss. Not exactly like Holmes and Watson, because they aren't social equals, but
they have a strong bond of trust and affection nevertheless. That's the way I've thought of Proctor from the get-go, and I'd like to see more
interplay between him and Our Special Agent, maybe even having Proctor save A's 'skinny a**' at some point.

I enjoyed reading from Proctor's point of view in DoD (or was is BoTD?) where he muses he that he would like to teach the Diogenes fellow a lesson or two.
I'd like to see more of his point of view, definitely.
I refuse to answer that question on grounds that I don't know the answer.

I like P paired with Vinnie, better. Humanizes him.
I'm not sure what to make of Proctor... but I bet there's a great back-story there! I'd like to know the back-story on P's relationship with the FBI guy (Michael.... who got killed by Dio). I mean, going from Great White Hunter... to FBI? Or in between? Also, I think P's military history (being a prisoner) in Viet-nam pretty darned interesting too. There are so many ways P/C can go with this character! GREAT, GREAT, GREAT CHARACTER!! |

I personally would enjoy seeing Eli Glinn working more with Pendergast. I find his character intriguing.
I can only imagine my laughter if there is going to be a future scene of Corrie meeting Constance or D'Agosta. That's a promise of humor! Well, if we do get to meet Mrs. Pendergast or get to know her more, my only hope is that she's a kick a$$ woman who can give Pendergast a hard time! |

Surely, Mrs Pendergast could make Pendy weak in the knees. The only thing Viola did was make him stupid for a minute.
That would be a precious moment: Corrie meeting Constance. This calls for some fan fiction, if hasn't already been done.
I loathe it. Opera was the television of the nineteenth century: loud, vulgar, and garish, with plots that could only be
called infantile.

Viola made him look like he had icecream down his back
I also would like to see Viola as a heroine instead of a damsel in distress. I think then people would like her more. However, ANY woman who has Pendergast is bound to be hated by all the women who read these books. |

I think they've knocked Viola out of the picture for a little while, but I would like to see them give her another try, and really do something with her
other than--as previously mentioned--the damsel in distress thing. She's an archeologist, maybe they could work that into a case somewhere and she could
actually have some interesting things happen to her that don't involve being kidnapped or making stupid judgment calls. I love what P&C did with Nora,
Margo and Corrie, I know they have it in them to make Viola interesting as well.
Currently, she just seems to lack the interactive qualities Pendergast would need. Helen did things with Pendergast--they went on big hunting trips, that's hardly a passive relationship. The idea of him having a home-body wife just doesn't suit him. He needs a woman by his side, not a woman at home waiting for him. (As a stay at home mom, I have to add that home-body wives are awesome! But they just don't suit *him*, IMO.)
